Pizza, Pop and Power Tools

Pizza, pop and power tools pizza pop and power tools

This is an activity to help middle school girls explore in demand high paying jobs within careers in the building trades. The program was started by Spokane Public Schools in collaboration Community Colleges of Spokane and the State of Washington Construction Skills Panel. Last year, the Chamber Foundation was asked to help expand the one day program to two days to include students from Valley schools. Through sponsor funds of $1,500, contributed by Spokane Teachers Credit Union, the Chamber Foundation made it possible for the program to double the number of 8th grade students served. Within this group, the program also attracted students from schools in Yakima and schools in Whitman County.

Pizza, Pop and Powertools 2009 - May 19th and 20th

The event will take place 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on May 19 and 20 (Tuesday,
and Wednesday)
at the Apprenticeship and Journeyman Training Center, 2110 N.
Fancher.

Pizza, Pop and Powertools shows eighth grade girls the multitude of
employment opportunities for talented, competent young women in the
construction trades. The hands-on event also provides a fun learning experience for our students.
This is a tremendous opportunity for our students to visit with women in
high skill and high wage employment in the Spokane area.
