About the Spokane Valley Cares 2.0 Grant Program

The City of Spokane Valley is receiving an additional $1.45 million in Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds provided by the U.S. Treasury Department. This additional amount supplements the $2.9 million the city originally received earlier this year. The city will be holding a second round of grants, Spokane Valley Cares 2.0, that businesses and nonprofits can apply for starting at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12 until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Businesses with applications in the first round of Spokane Valley Cares that were not selected for funding must reapply to Spokane Valley Cares 2.0.  Applications do not automatically roll over.

To provide grants to a larger range of businesses and nonprofits, City Council increased the employee requirement from 18 or fewer FTEs (Full-time equivalent staff) to 49 or fewer FTEs. For nonprofits, there will no limit on the FTEs. Grants will again be awarded in a lottery format with those selected receiving up to $7,158. Businesses with applications deemed ineligible in the first round of Spokane Valley Cares may reapply to the Spokane Valley Cares 2.0 Grant Program.

The Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce (GSVCC) was selected by the Spokane Valley City Council to administer the program. We have partnered with the Innovia Foundation for online application hosting, processing, software, and database services. We have also partnered with Greater Spokane Inc. for assistance in the application process design and the application review.
