The Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Ben Wick as the recipient of the prestigious Harry E. Nelson Citizen of the Year Award. This honor, part of the 2024 Valley Chamber Business Awards, recognizes Wick’s unwavering commitment to the Spokane Valley community and his impactful contributions spanning several decades.
Ben Wick has been a lifelong advocate for Spokane Valley. During his high school years, he played a crucial role in the city’s efforts to incorporate. Since then, his dedication to the community has only grown. He has served as a Spokane Valley City Council member and is the owner and publisher of the Greater Spokane Valley Current, Liberty Lake Splash, and the recently launched West Plains Stream. Additionally, Ben is the current president of the Spokane Valley Kiwanis Club.
“I am very humbled and appreciative to be honored with the Harry E. Nelson Citizen of the Year Award. This is the highest honor,” said Wick. “The Valley has always had so much opportunity and potential. I am just honored to share and be a part of that potential. I hope our future generations continue to be engaged in public office because our community needs you.”
The Citizen of the Year Award is named in honor of Harry E. Nelson, a foundational figure in the Spokane Valley community and a driving force behind establishing the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce. Nelson’s legacy is a testament to the power of community service and dedication, values that Ben Wick embodies through his work and commitment to the Spokane Valley.
The Award is uniquely chosen by past recipients on behalf of the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber to ensure the awardee meets the standards of leadership and service and aligns with the legacy of previous honorees.
Ben Wick will be awarded at the 2024 Valley Chamber Business Awards on March 27, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at CenterPlace Regional Event Center. Tickets are available for purchase here.
