Chamber Foundation announces Business Scholarships

June 18, 2018

Two scholarships were presented to local graduates at the June Business Connections Breakfast, held at CenterPlace Regional Event Center on Fri., June 15th, 2018.
Each year, the Spokane Valley Chamber Foundation presents a special scholarship, named in memory of former Spokane Valley businessman, Sam Campbell. The Sam Campbell Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior, who is pursuing a business-related degree. The recipient is chosen by the Sam Campbell family.
Marley Pratt, Freeman High School, is the 2018 recipient of the Sam Campbell Memorial Scholarship. As a student at Freeman High School, she was a four-year honor roll student who maintained a 3.7 GPA while being competing in several sports, as well as Varsity Cheerleading. She has been very active with the Freeman Associated Student Body (ASB), served as an officer for Freeman’s FBLA, FFA, and NHS Clubs. She has also been very involved in the community by volunteering with numerous charitable organizations and her church. She was recognized as Freeman High School’s Business Student of the Year. She plans to open her own coffee stand after completing her degree in Entrepreneurial Studies Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ, which she hopes to do debt-free.
The Valley Chamber Foundation was also proud to present another scholarship, on behalf of the Liberty Lake Rotary Club, to an outstanding high school senior, Hannah Hislop, of Central Valley High School.
The recipient of the Liberty Lake Rotary Scholarship was a four-year honor roll student who maintained a 3.8 as a student at Central Valley High School and taking Running Start classes at Eastern Washington University, where she received Dean’s List and Honor Society recognition. She is a competitive skier with the Schweitzer Alpine Racing School, a three-year cross-country runner and four-year golfer, who frequently volunteers with her church. Born-and-raised in the Greater Spokane Valley, she hopes to complete a biology degree at Gonzaga University and then dental school, after which she hopes to open her own dental practice in the Inland Northwest.
Congratulations to these bright, young scholarship winners!
