SPOKANE VALLEY, WA – After hearing thoughtful presentations and engaging in extensive discussion regarding the upcoming Spokane Transit Authority (STA) August 2026 ballot measure, the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted to oppose Proposition 1 as currently proposed.
The Chamber’s position on this measure should not be interpreted as opposition to public transit or the importance of a reliable, effective transportation system. Rather, it reflects the Board’s belief that continued collaboration is essential as we shape the future of our region.
The Board carefully weighed several factors, including the timing of additional public investment amid other pressing community priorities, the cumulative tax burden on residents and businesses, and the importance of maintaining accountability through long-term public funding decisions.
The Greater Spokane Valley Chamber remains committed to supporting a strong regional transit system and values its partnership with Spokane Transit Authority.
