Keynote Speaker Announced for Manufacturing Matters EXPO

The Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the keynote speaker for the Manufacturing Matters EXPO dinner, scheduled for September 26 at Mirabeau Park Hotel.

Reflecting on four generations of innovation and quality manufacturing at Buck Knives, CJ Buck, President & CEO, Buck Knives, will provide the keynote address, ‘Edge of a Legend.’ CJ Buck is the fourth generation to head the family business. CJ’s great grandfather, H.H. Buck, founded the company in 1902. Hoyt was an apprentice blacksmith, making knives out of files and other workshop scraps. The company grew into a father/son partnership in the 1940s and was incorporated in 1961 by Hoyt’s oldest son and CJ’s grandfather, Al Buck. CJ started on the production line with Buck Knives in 1978. The company relocated their headquarters from San Diego to Post Falls in 2004. Today, Buck Knives maintains its grip on the competition as the leading brand in the United States for outdoor sporting cutlery. The Buck name is recognized worldwide for quality, innovation and elegant function.

The Manufacturing Matters EXPO is a two-day event, scheduled for September 26 and 27, that showcases the region’s manufacturing capabilities. The EXPO features a tradeshow with exhibitors representing leading contract manufacturers, job shops, and suppliers. In addition, educational workshops, featuring industry best practices, trends and new technologies are scheduled throughout the day on a variety of topics relevant to engineers, purchasing agents and managers of manufacturing companies.

The EXPO begins September 26 with a reception at 5:30 p.m., dinner and keynote speaker, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Mirabeau Park Hotel, followed by the trade show and workshops at the Spokane County Fair &
Expo Center on September 27 from 9-4 p.m.

Registration is required for the reception and dinner. Tickets are available for $50 per person or $400 per table of 8.
