Liberty Lake City Council Meeting

A good amount of business was conducted at the August 7th meeting of the Liberty Lake City Council. There was a consensus on the Council for Mayor Peterson to sign the Spokane River Centennial Trail Interagency Cooperative Agreement. By paying into this agreement, Liberty Lake becomes a joint-stakeholder with Spokane County, the City of Spokane, and the City of Spokane Valley. Joint-stakeholder status grants the City of Liberty Lake the same voting power as the other parties through August 2034, with the ability to renew in 10-year increments.

Next, Council approved an agreement with WSDOT for design funding for the City’s Harvard Rd. Bridge-Widening and I-90 Westbound On-Ramp projects. Those same projects will now have engineering firm KPFF handling the designs, as Council also approved an agreement between the City and the firm.

Council had their first hearing of Ordinances 249 and 247D, and their second hearing of Ordinance 247C. No. 249 would create a fund for the Harvard Rd. Bridge Widening project and no. 247D would approve a budget amendment to contribute to no. 249’s fund – those ordinances on first hearing will be heard again at a later meeting of Council. Ordinance 247C, concerning the approval of a budget amendment for Orchard Park and other items, was passed by Council.
