Regional Council of Governments Summary
September 7th, 2018
After the opening ceremony of the Spokane County Interstate Fair, elected officials and departments from the smallest towns up to the state level gathered in the Expo Center at the Fairgrounds to give the Council of Governments updates. Those in attendance got to hear from the 92nd Operations Group Commander Colonel Russell Davis from Fairchild AFB and representatives from Cheney, Fairfield, Liberty Lake, Spokane County, Spokane Valley, the Spokane Tribe, and WSDOT. Presentations were given that covered the growth of Fairchild AFB and its long list of achievements, round-a-bout awareness, promotion of Greater Spokane Emergency Management, election costs and safety improvements, and a discussion of the rapid growth and, subsequently, lack of available housing opportunities in our region.
It has been over a year since the last meeting of the Spokane Regional Council of Governments, but they are looking to have several more meetings before the next opening of the Fair in 2019. Stay tuned.
