Peterson named 2017 Citizen of the Year

January 11, 2018
Steve Peterson, Liberty Lake Mayor, has been named as this year’s Harry E. Nelson Citizen of the Year. ‘City Builder’ is the title chosen to honor his investment of time and resources in our region.
The Citizen of the Year is ‘an individual who demonstrates exemplary service to the business community and serves as a leader in strengthening the functional and aesthetic values of our communities.’ The award was named for Harry E Nelson, because of his passion for Spokane Valley and his commitment to the business community. Harry Nelson was one of the founders (1921) and first presidents of our Chamber (1926), who worked tirelessly on Chamber efforts even after retirement, until his death in 1959.
The 2017 Citizen of the Year recipient, Steve Peterson, will be recognized during the Gem of the Valley Awards Gala, Friday, January 19, at Mirabeau Park Hotel.
Make your reservations now to attend this elegant annual event, where winners will be revealed! The Gala will feature live entertainment by the ‘Strolling Strings’ from East Valley High School, a gourmet dinner and special “Gem of the Valley” auction.
A few sponsorship opportunities are still available. Email Georgia for more information, or to donate an item for the live auction.
