Government Action Program Summary

Feb. 12, 2018
The Government Action Committee Program for February was headlined by Anna Salick of US Chamber, who informed the Committee of her Chamber’s take on events in Washington, D.C. Much like our Chamber, their focus is on promoting business-friendly policy, and as a result they are reasonably happy with the overhaul of the tax code by the Trump Administration, but they are hoping for continued U.S. involvement in multilateral trade organizations like NAFTA and for the Administration to find a solution to the country’s labor shortage in the trades. After her presentation, Committee members raised questions and concerns that impact our community for her to bring to US Chamber’s Government Affairs team.
After this presentation, the Committee reviewed a policy consideration request from Lyft and discussion materials presented by Spokane International Airport. After discussion, a motion to vote on the request was made and the Committee decided for the Chamber to take a neutral position on the request.
We meet again in Room 39 at MultiCare Valley Hospital on March 12th, and the Committee is expecting to receive input from 4th Legislative District elected officials at this program.
